Six Different Types Of Radiology

by | Jan 2, 2023 | Health | 0 comments

Radiology is the branch of medical science that uses imaging technology to diagnose inside problems. Many times we are unable to diagnose the problem from the outside. Hence, radiology Liverpool diagnoses the problem and treats the patient accordingly.

There are two different areas for radiology. The first one is diagnostic radiology and the other one is interventional radiology. Radiologists are those who are specialized in radiology. In this process, the fracture, tumours, injury, and other details are visible. That is why doctors prescribe for radiology to detect the actual problem.

Different Types Of Radiology Liverpool

Several types of radiology in Liverpool are there. Depending upon the needs, the doctor prescribes so. Moreover, not every diagnostic centre provides every facility.

  1. X-ray: X-ray is the most common and oldest form to capture the image. It uses low-dose radiation and produces images inside the body. It mainly detects the bones and joints. This is most frequently used. It provides quick results and diagnoses the problem quickly. Digital X-rays use less radiation and are inexpensive.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging: Another greatest option for radiology in Liverpool is MRI. It is a powerful magnet and uses radiofrequency. It creates three-dimensional images of the bones and tissues. It is more effective than an x-ray. However, it is costly compared to the other one. The attractive benefit of it is that it uses no radiation.
  • Mammography: mammography uses low-dose radiation and helps detect breast tumours and cancer. If you want to get a high-quality image then you have to use digital mammography. It uses less radiation and is good for your health. Other than that, it also diagnoses the proper stage of cancer.
  • Ultrasound: The next one is ultrasound. This technology provides real-time pictures on the computer screen of the technician and radiographer. It also uses no radiation just like MRI. It is a painless procedure. With the help of the probe, the radiologist will rotate it in the belly. It is frequently used for pregnant women to see the baby’s movement.
  • CT scan: CT scan is an x-ray technology. It takes images from several parts of the angle. It provides highly detailed three-dimensional images to diagnose the problems in tissues and bones. It mainly detects muscle disorders, internal bleeding and injuries.
  • Nuclear machine: Another one is radioactive tracers that are inserted inside the vein. It produces images of the internal organs and diagnoses the exact problem. It is helpful to diagnose cancers or internal-related problems. It is slightly painful and passes less radiation.
  • Transvaginal sonography: Transvaginal sonography is commonly referred to as TV. A probe is inserted inside the vagina to check a woman’s reproductive organs. This test can only be performed on women. It uses less radiation and is good at detecting internal problems.

Lastly, we must mention that will help you to get through the checkup. Sometimes we neglect the disease. It is always good to do some checks so that in the long it will be helpful for you.
